Where We Help

There are 800 million illiterate adults in the world today, and with 115 million primary aged kids not in school, most of whom live in the world's poorest nations, this is a global economic time bomb of immense proportions. It is no surprise that many of the world's poorest nations also have the lowest literacy rates. Even those countries that offer their children free education suffer from overcrowded schools, poor sanitation, lack of facilities and long arduous journeys for young children to travel. This all means that even those who make it to school have their opportunities limited by the poor infrastructure of their education system.

45 million of these kids not in school live in sub-Saharan Africa, and we have selected Kenya as our initial country of focus. Kenya is an ideal first place for our scholarships, although they are still one of the poorest African nations with poverty levels of over 45%, they have been committed to improving their education system and economy. Because of this, those who complete their education will have a real chance to break the cycle of poverty that has gripped the population for so long. Our local NGO partner KISA (the Kenyan Independent Schools Association) have been invaluable in helping us to select the schools and children that would benefit most from our scholarships.

Scholarships for kids is currently investigating the creation of scholarships for children in:

  • India
  • Bangladesh
  • Nigeria
  • Ghana
  • Cambodia
  • Sri Lanka

We hope to become a truly global charity, helping children with the most potential who simply had the misfortune to be born into the most difficult of lives.

Poverty begets poverty, and we at Scholarships for Kids try everyday to help break the cycle that sees children's prospects dashed from an early age because of a lack of education, guaranteeing them a life of hardship. We see every child that completes their education and goes on to a better life as an inspiration to their friends, family and wider community. A ripple effect that you can help to give momentum to by contacting us, or reading more about scholarships and donations in our How You Can Help pages.

If you would like to help, please contribute a scholarship or make a donation towards the education of one of these children.
