Participating Schools

Class seven pupils

The schools that participate in our scholarship scheme are carefully selected by our local NGO partner, KISA (the Kenyan Independent Schools Association), and regulated to ensure that the children our scholarships help have the best chance of success through their education.

Both school and staff are required to show almost as much dedication to the scheme as the children themselves. To be accepted, they must be prepared to present and maintain certain levels of cleanliness, administration and integrity.

Cleanliness

Only those schools that conform to acceptable levels of hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness are considered for participation in our scholarships scheme, as it is important to us that a child is safe, secure and healthy in their school environment.

Administration

Every penny that you donate to the education of a child must be accounted for by the receiving schools. They must provide regular accounts to our local coordinator and produce expense reports to justify all spending of the monies. We feel that it is vital to monitor this spending, as every penny wasted is a penny that could have been spent improving another child's prospects.

Integrity

The honesty and integrity of every school that we give money to needs to be upheld, not only on initial inspection but for our entire relationship with them. If at any time it is found that funds are being misappropriated, our relationship with the school will be severed, as anything else would simply be a waste of your goodwill and money.

All schools participating in our scheme are regularly visited by our local coordinators, and it is their responsibility to ensure that standards are upheld. If they find that any begin to slip, our relationship with the school will be reviewed, as the correct and responsible usage of your donations is of paramount importance to us.

If you would like to help in some way, you can read more on our How You Can Help pages, contact us or contribute a scholarship or make a donation towards the education of one of these children.
