A day in the life of John Isaac Osore
John is 12 years old and a very bright boy in class 4 at Bright Star Primary School. John lives with his parents and 9 brothers and sisters.
John's father is jobless, weak and old. His step mother sells groundnuts in the Fuata Nyayo slum, where they all live in a single room.
John wakes up at dawn to to walk to school on an empty stomach because his family cannot afford to provide breakfast.
After school John is sent out to sell the groundnuts to supplement the family income. There is no time and no space at home to do any homework.
Despite all of these life challenges, John works extremely well at school, social studies is his best subject.
He dreams of becoming a pilot.
John's attendance, concentration and performance have improved greatly since he started receiving SFK's scholarship.
John needs £75 each year to pay his school fees, £15 for his uniform, £13 for shoes and £10 for stationery.
